Well, today was the 4th and final AC treatment. My veins are pretty blown now. Because of the nodes removed on the left side, they can only use my right arm. And it took them 4 sticks before they found a vein that would hold up. Needless to say, my poor arm is a little black and blue. But they finally got an IV working, and the poison went in.
In 2 weeks, we will be trying Taxol. I will be premedicated with 4 different drugs, in case of allergic reaction. If I am allergic, and the meds don't work, and I survive, then we will try Abraxane. Who knew there was such a limitless amount of chemo that can kill cancer cells!
My blood work is concerning my Dr. I'm so extremely anemic. He is having my ferritin levels checked. If my iron stores are low, then I may be getting an iron infusion. He's concerned that it isn't just the chemo causing it, but we'll see. I have no indications of any other bleeding. He just felt that since I don't menstruate anymore my levels should not be where they are. Yes, the anemia makes me super tired. But so does chemo and meds and nausea. It's hard to distinguish what is the hardest.
I am already nauseous this time around. Each time has been more difficult, and this is apparently no exception. Ugh. Time to go into chemo fog. Goodbye, what little brain I have left.
You are at the halfway mark! Hopefully one of the pre-medications you are getting is of the 'morphine' ilk to help keep your mind off of the Taxol. It sounds like you have a ton of forces working against your energy levels - such a bummer.
ReplyDeleteYou are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this difficult journey. Try to keep your sense of humor, remember "A well-developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life." and you have always been 'well balanced' in that regard.
Love ya sis! Laura
Hi Gamergirl! (Sorry I don't know your real name) I am one of your sisters from the BC.org site, October surgeries. I am so sorry to read of all your negative experiences. ugh!!
ReplyDeleteYour blogs are very informative, and I enjoying reading them. Not that I enjoy reading of your bad things, but I enjoy your sense of humor and your writing style. It is so easy--you have a real talent there. Perhaps you should journal your daily experiences with your cancer and treatments and think of publishing a book?? I would read it!
hugs and love to you,
